Shifting our approach to sustainability

A strategic shift in our sustainability offering

After careful consideration, we’ve made the strategic decision to discontinue the development and sale of Continia Sustainability. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one we believe will bring greater long-term value to our customers and partners.  

Why we’re making this change   

The sustainability reporting landscape has changed significantly in just a short time. In early 2025, the European Union adopted the Omnibus Simplification Package, which scaled back the scope of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).  

This revision reduced the number of companies required to report by 80%, cutting the total from over 50,000 to approximately 10,000, and pushed compliance deadlines out to 2028. As a result, the CSRD now applies primarily to companies with more than 1,000 employees—well beyond the typical profile of Business Central customers.  

At the same time, global momentum around ESG disclosure has slowed. The U.S. federal government has recently shifted direction on sustainability regulations, creating further uncertainty for companies operating across markets.  

Since demand for this solution is lower in the near term, we’re shifting our focus to where we can create the most impact right now: strengthening our core solutions and continuing to streamline our customers’ financial processes in Business Central. 

What this means   

Your sustainability efforts don’t end here—and neither does our support. You can still collect and report key ESG data using the Continia solutions you already rely on:  

• Continia Document Capture – for extracting ESG-relevant data from incoming documents  

• Continia Expense Management – for capturing and managing employee spend data  

These tools will integrate seamlessly with Business Central’s built-in sustainability features, helping you stay aligned with your reporting goals.  

Looking ahead  

This decision reflects a shift in focus—not in values. While we’re no longer developing a dedicated sustainability solution, we remain committed to supporting ESG reporting through standard Business Central so our customers can continue capturing the data they need to meet evolving ESG goals with confidence.
