Upon processing documents in Continia Document Capture, you are either using the Continia cloud OCR service or you have installed the ABBYY FineReader Engine and Document Capture Service on-premises.

With the on-premises OCR version, Document Capture uses the OCR-functionality of ABBYY FineReader to enrich received paper- and PDF documents with data which is used to register documents in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and 365 Business Central.

ABBYY FineReader is an optical character recognition (OCR) system that is used to convert scanned documents, PDF documents, and image files, including digital photos, into editable formats.

On 1. September 2021, the ABBYY FineReaderEngine version 10 is no longer supported by the producer ABBYY. The reason for this is that the technology in version 10 is getting old and is no longer developed.

 

I have the ABBYY FineReaderEngine version 10 installed, what should I do?

As mentioned, after 1 September 2021, it will no longer be possible to receive technical support for this version of the ABBYY FineReader. You can still process documents in your Document Capture solution; however, you can from this date no longer purchase more OCR pages to be processed for your license or add additional languages if the need arises.

For this reason, we encourage you to update your ABBYY FineReaderEngine to version 12.
